We are honored that you are interested in making one of our retreats your next Hocking Hills vacation home. It is our mission to provide exceptional customer service and impeccable housekeeping so that you will become a guest for a lifetime. Please review the following information as it will help you plan for your amazing retreat.

Check-In Procedures:

Check-in time is 4:00 PM or after. Check-out time is by 11:00 AM. Please understand that we cannot accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs. The cabin has a keyless entry that has been programmed with a unique combination just for you. This combination will be erased upon your departure.

Your combination will be emailed 2 days before your arrival date.

Refundable Security Deposit:

In order to keep it simple for our guests, 24 hours before check-in, a hold in the amount of $250 ($500 @ The Burrow) is placed on the credit card you used when you booked your retreat. 48 hours after checking out, this hold is released. Because the credit card is never actually processed, it is not considered a transaction and will not appear on your credit card statement. In the event we need to withhold part/all of the security deposit, you will be notified.

Linens:

Your retreat has been equipped with fresh bed linens and towels. Damaged or missing linens will incur additional charges.

Furnishings:

Each vacation retreat is privately owned. We kindly ask you to respect the owner’s home as you would your own. Do not move the furniture or alter the wiring of any television or audiovisual equipment.

Self-Catering Accommodations:

Unlike hotels, Scarlet Oak Retreats offers self-catering properties. Each property is equipped for basic vacation needs. For your convenience, we provide initial starter supplies of the following items:

  • 1 roll of paper towels
  • 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom

Additional Items Supplied:

  • Dishwasher capsules
  • Trash bags
  • Dishtowels
  • Hand & dish soap
  • Plates, glasses, silverware, knives & cookware
  • Baking dishes, mixing bowls, & cutting board
  • Traditional drip coffee maker @ all cabins
  • Keurig @ Buckeye Trail, Casa Carezza, Meant to Bee, and Waters Edge
  • Toaster & mixer
  • Bath towels, hand towels, & washcloths
  • Bed linens, pillows, & blankets
  • Charcoal grill @ Sidney Nook Treehouse
  • Propane grill & propane

We do not supply the following items:

  • Personal Hygiene Products i.e., shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, etc.
  • Disposable Kitchen Storage Items i.e., aluminum foil, plastic bags, etc.
  • Seasonings, Condiments, & Cooking Oils (with the exception of salt and pepper).
  • Laundry Products i.e., detergent, stain remover, fabric softener, etc.

Bottled Water:

Most of our cabins have well water. As a result, the water may have a high mineral content, sulfur, or natural gas. While perfectly safe, you may prefer to bring bottled water to drink during your stay.

Firewood:

All of our cabins have a fire pit for campfires and some have a wood-burning fireplace. As we do not supply firewood, please purchase firewood locally. Bringing firewood from out of the area may result in the transfer of exotic insect pests like the Emerald Ash Borer. These pests are a major threat to Ohio’s 19 million acres of forest. In addition to many roadside “buy here/pay here” stands, all grocery stores and most gas stations sell bundles of firewood.

Cell Phone Reception:

As cell phone service is not always reliable in The Hills, all of our cabins except, Casa Carezza, Sidney Nook Treehouse, and Sieri Glen have cabin phones.

Wi-Fi:

With the exception of Sidney Nook Treehouse and Sieri Glen, all of our cabins have Wi-Fi and our cabin owners have purchased the highest tier available. Unfortunately, unlimited internet service in Hocking Hills is not an option, so please understand that we are at the mercy of the internet service providers. Streaming movies, games, etc. is not possible. You will receive the Wi-Fi username and password 2 days before your arrival date.

Hot Tub:

We drain, sanitize, refill, and replenish chemicals between each reservation. Therefore, the temperature may not be warm until later in the evening. When you arrive, if you know you will be using the hot tub, you may need to increase the temperature. To heat the water, the lid to the hot tub must also remain closed.

Pest Control:

Each month, we have a profession company provide pest extermination at all of our retreats. However, this does not make them “bug proof.” Please remember that you are in the woods and we have invaded the woodland creatures’ habitat. As a result, you will see bugs, spiders and mice occasionally.

Refunds After Arrival:

Scarlet Oak Retreats is not responsible for mechanical failures or disruptions of utilities during your retreat. Examples of failures or disruptions include, but are not limited to, Hot Tubs, Televisions, DVD players, Wi-Fi, Dishwashers, Washers/Dryers, Fireplaces, Air Conditioning, Electricity, Water, or any appliance that fails to operate properly during your stay. These failures are beyond our control and no refund or rent reduction will be given.

Out and About in Hocking Hills:

In addition to the parks and trails, Hocking Hills offers an abundance of activities. The list of things to do, places to go, and events to see grows everyday. As you prepare for your Scarlet Oak Retreats getaway, may we suggest you visit the Hocking Hills Tourism Association @ www.explorehockinghills.com Also, please note, if you are planning to golf, go canoeing, zip lining, etc. you should purchase tickets weeks in advance as these popular activities tend to sell out quickly.
